Love is like a deep calme river,

Its surface a reflecting mirror,

In its countenance you see yourself,

and the things you will to be.

It flows so gently through your life,

Until the currents swift become,

And then a raging, frothing thing it be,

The rapids sweep you down its course.

The raging river will soon exhaust,

And just a babbling brook become,

Within its crystal waters clear,

You see each rock and flaw below.

Come step into my cool stream, love,

Feel the warmth around your ankles,

Know the rocks and sand betwix your toes,

Let my waters rise and surround you.

Float upon my gentle surface,

Behold your own countenance,

See within my mirrored face,

What you desire to possess.

But do beware you mortal creature,

Life and love are never smooth,

Just below the sleepy warmth,

My rapids await to carry you away.

Within the darkness of my waters,

Is something deep and raging still,

Do not withstand the currents swift,

Let the pain and passion carry you.

And when again the rapids exhaust,

Lay upon the cool, hard rocks,

Let my crystal waters restore you,

As my soul flows through your veins.

For I am more than the waters surrounding,

More than the raging torrent sweeping,

More than the images reflected in my eyes,

I am the part of you completely hidden.

Step again, my lover, into my unknown,

Know yourself within my currents,

See the ice that floats in your fire,

Lose the boundaries of your body.

Break through the confines of matter,

Rage until the world turns to white,

Know the sweet exhaustion of love,

Taste the dew within your soul.

Let me be the one who flows within you,

Open your soul and mind to my currents,

I'll carry you and teach you my ways,

I bring the freedom of love's bondage.

Let me add reflection to your life,

Comfort your mind in sorrow,

Lead you to the ends of your being,

Transcend the limits of your body.

Step into my dark, calm river,

Do not fear its depth or breadth.

Believe in my promise of comfort,

Walk on water and flow within me.

Lay your thoughts upon my waters,

Let me wash them in my feelings,

The tide of creation will rise within,

The blending of light, genius become.

Rest your body on my shores,

I'll stroke your being with my waves,

We'll wash away the world's sorrow,

And flow within each other's calmness,

Unveil the blackness of your soul,

Nothing there holds shock for me.

Let my hands touch your wickedness,

For me you'll be the saving grace.

The river knows the crystal and mind,

Both do flow within its waters white.

I have seen more than you can know,

Do not fear my burning touch.

Pain can freeze the love in a soul,

Hate can burn your eyes to ashes,

Hurt can crush the bones of your being,

Indifference wear the sparkle down.

Each I've know in quantity great,

All have ground at my being.

Lay your head upon my softness,

I'll let you know my eternity.

Come be one within my mind's limits,

Stretch your soul to ends of my being,

Flow within the currents of my river,

Let us live within each other forever.
